Dr. Melanie Chwalek attended the University of Alabama where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Biology. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry from UAB School of Optometry. She was one of the first students at UAB to complete a dual degree program earning her Masters of Business Administration from UAB Collat School of Business concurrently with her Doctorate of Optometry.

Dr. Chwalek’s focus is primary eye care optometry for the entire family, including comprehensive eye exams, prescribing corrective lenses, diagnosing and treating ocular disease, and handling eye care emergencies. She has practiced across Alabama and was voted Best Doctor by Shelby Living in both 2024 and 2025.
